Snow Shovel

Ordinance No. 135.12 prohibits any person to throw, push, place, or cause to be thrown, pushed or places any ice, or snow from private property, sidewalks, or driveways onto the traveled way of a street or alley so as to obstruct gutters, or impede the passage of vehicles upon street or alley.

Ordinance No. 136.15 states it is the duty of the owner to keep sidewalks abutting the property clear of snow and ice. Snow and ice accumulations should be removed within a reasonable amount of time.

During an average snowfall (less than 4”) crews will clear driving lanes only during the daylight hours. Full width plowing will begin at approximately 3:00 a.m. and continue to completion. The City requests no on street parking take place during the evening hours to facilitate full width plowing of streets. Cleanup may extend into the second evening after a major snowfall (over 4”). Please be aware of posted signs in Business Districts that indicate NO PARKING from November 15 to April 15 from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.

“Snow from private driveways or sidewalks may not be pushed onto Public Street or Alley”.
